NEWBORN SESSION FAQ

The time a newborn stays small and squishy flys by in a haze of sleep deprivation and dirty diapers. Preserve the small things about your newborn that are so easy to forget with a newborn session.

What type of newborn sessions do you offer?

I offer Posed Newborn Photography from the comfort of your own home! That’s right! I bring my studio to you!

When is the best time to book my newborn session?

The best time to book your session is while you are still pregnant. I know how stressful and overwhelming those first few weeks are with a newborn, and trust me, you do NOT want to deal with trying to find a photographer while semi-functioning due to the 4 hours of sleep you got last night. Do postpartum-you a favor and book before your baby gets here.

Posed newborn sessions are done preferably within the first 14 days of the baby’s life. This is because your baby still needs to be curly and squishy to achieve certain poses.

How can I prepare for my Posed Newborn Session?

There are a few things that you can do to help your newborn session go as smoothly as possible. Having extra diapers on hand, a pacifier, a bottle for feedings and a burp rag are the perfect kit for everything we will need for your baby. I provide all of the outfits, props, backdrops, etc. We go over these details during our Styling Session and I always remind you again when we book our session date after you have had your baby.

What can I expect during my Posed Newborn Session?

Leaving the house just after you have had a baby is its only special kind of torture, which is why I come to you! I pack up all of my amazing props, outfits, wraps, hats, headbands, and lighting and you show up in your pjs, because you deserve that. The session is typically held in the morning as that is your baby’s night still. Our session lasts anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on how your baby cooperates. Your little one is the boss! I never force a pose. This session is held in a dark, quiet, HOT room for the comfort of your baby. So be prepared to take a nap. You deserve it! You are free to relax unless your baby needs to be fed or changed.

Can I bring my other children to our session?

Siblings are more than welcome at the beginning of the session so we can get family and sibling shots. This portion typically lasts 30-40 minutes depending on how everyone cooperates. After their turn is over, please arrange for someone to come take them home or to an activity out of the home until our session is over. I don’t know a single toddler who is able to sit quietly and still for 2-4 hours, so no need to torture you and them. I find that newborns sleep better for my sessions if siblings are not present, and our entire goal is to capture images of your precious (sleeping), new baby.
